Richard Baskind is a respected and
well-connected mainstay of Edge Legal,
and co-founded the firm
Richard Baskind’s clients include artists, songwriters, producers, labels and publishers ; he holds the belief that only by representing all areas of the entertainment industry can a lawyer really have the experience to know what the parties to a negotiation will each be seeking. He is involved in advising a number of successful established artists, including Nick Cave, Norman Cook and Gavin Rossdale Rodrigo y Gabriela, Lucie Silvas, Nerina Pallot as well as a number of independent record companies and publishers including Skint Records, Southern Fried Records, Waterfall Records and Fabric Records. Richard trained as a lawyer at law firm Herbert Smith and also spent time working "in house" at BSkyB. Following his time at BSkyB, Richard moved to law firm Theodore Goddard where he worked in the Entertainment and Media group. In 1998 Richard joined Eatons solicitors where he linked up with David Glick. Eatons merged with Mishcon de Reya in October 2000, where Richard worked in the Media and Entertainment group for just over three years. Richard specialises in all aspects of the music industry whilst also advising in other areas such as film, TV and sport. Richard set up Edge Legal Limited with David Glick in February 2004.
